The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II in 2022 marked the 70th anniverary of her accession to the throne on 6 February 1952. It was the first time that any monarch in British history celebrated a platinum jubilee.
The Queen said that she hoped the platinum jubilee would bring together families and friends, neighbours, and communities. She said that the jubilee “affords me a time to reflect on the goodwill shown to me by people of all nationalities, faiths and ages in this country and around the world over these years”.
A special 4-day bank holiday weekend in June was announced. In a special message, the Queen said, “Many happy memories will be created over the next four days.
When it comes to how to mark seventy years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my platinum jubilee.”
Benhall & Sternfield planned their own special 4-day celebration, these are some of the highlights.
Throughout the weekend there will be an Exhibition of Royal Memorabilia in the Club by the History Group
