2021 November, Ebb & Flow, Parish Magazine:

Thanks to an inspired idea from David Secret, Sternfield resident and member of the Parish Council, our two villages have decided to acknowledge, with flowers, the lives of those who died during the dreadful stage of the Covid pandemic.

Volunteers embark on the task of planting thousands of daffodil bulbs in Sternfield and Benhall.

November 2021, Ebb & Flow, written by David Secret:

During October, Benhall & Sternfield Parish Council organised the planting of 6,000 daffodil bulbs across the two villages. The image was taken on the first day of planting when 1,400 bulbs disappeared into the soil. Let’s hope the volunteers look just as happy when the last bulb goes in.

November 2021 Benhall & Sternfield News:

At the time of writing these notes, two daffodil planting sessions have been held with two more to go. It was wonderful to have such a good turnout on the first day and on the second we were joined by a cohort from the Benhall Pre-school. Since daffodils can be relied to come up year after year, our young friends should get excellent value for their efforts.

So, in anticipation of having the job finished by the time you read this, many thanks to te planters and lets not forget the providors of coffee and cake – without whom we may have had a serious outbreak of daffodil-wilt!

December 2021 Ebb & Flow:

On one of the bulb planting days, nine very enthusiastic children from Benhall Pre-school came to help us plant daffodils on Benhall Village Green. They had a lovely time and were rewarded afterwards with glasses of milk and home-made gingerbread people – kindly baked by Pauline Graham. A few of the children visited Pauline a couple of days later and gave her two cards to say thank you.
