Edward George Ayden known as Ted (1897-1971)
Do you remember Ted Ayden? He used to run the Post Office in Benhall Green and knew everyone there and in the surrounding villages. As well as delivering telegrams he told old stories, wrote poems, sang and performed, was a hairdresser, baked cakes and was instrumental in getting Benhall Club built and the annual Flower Show started.
A lane was named after him in the village, Ayden Way, and the Benhall Village sign was erected in memory of Ted and can still be seen today at the entrance to Benhall Green off the B1121.

Graham Smith remembers: Ted used to dress him up. Ted would take off his hat and put it on the dog, then take off his horned rimmed glasses and put them on the dog, then his pipe, then his scarf and so on!
